Janine Suggett (BA (Hons) Graphic Design & Illustration)
Oxton is where I've lived since 1983.
Art is very important to me - necessary and uplifting, other people's
more than mine! The Fair is my fourth
attempt at sharing my work with others.
I sit with pen and paper, not sure what comes first - a chicken and
egg scenario. An idea, an object, a phrase that makes me smile. Little
objects, symbols and forms with narrative held quietly within. Like
sandcastles as the tide gets nearer.
I came to England to study illustration at Camberwell School of Art
and Crafts in 1972; worked in publishing for several years; and moved to
Oxton and brought up my three daughters. I now enjoy being a grandmother, although Poppy could easily take over my studio...
(speaking of Poppy, Poppy's Mum is one half of the catering company Chilli and Chive who will be doing the food over the weekend for the cafe)
